We had a small meeting this past holiday weekend with big news. We had a new Daisy join the troop! A big welcome to Sophie!
Well, after all the yummy food and time with family it's time to get back down to business. There will not be any actual meetings in Dec. due to events and Christmas. Though there are still a couple things to announce and look out for.
One Warm Coat Drive:
Go ahead and get your Daisy involved in searching for old coats. Let’s try to reach our troop goal of 25 coats by Jan. 23rd. Ask friends, family, neighbors… just make sure to keep your Daisy involved. Maybe she can make fliers to pass out in your neighborhood or at church. Ask her of any ideas she may have.
**We will have an ice cream party if our troop’s goal is reached, and the girls will receive a patch just for participation.
Cookie Sales are Approaching!
The sale officially starts Jan. 2nd. Since our next meeting isn't until Jan. 9th, if you want to participate, I recommend meeting up with me that weekend to get order forms. They sell quickly, the sooner we start the better! I will send out reminder emails as the time nears.
I hope to see all the girls at our events on the 12th! So far we have 4 attending :)

Daisy Uniform
There have been questions on where to place the patches and pins, so here is a good visual for you.
For a larger picture, go to this link: How to Wear a Daisy G.S. Uniform
Click on the name of the item to the right to view a larger picture and description of it as well.
**Everyone should have their Blue Petal Center on uniform by now**
All event patches go on back of uniform. It does not matter where or what order, though it is generally easier to start top to bottom.

Operation Christmas Child
I have boxes and we will be packing and wrapping them this Saturday. So, please just send the items in a bag with your Daisy to the meeting. I ask this of you so the girls are more involved with this project. Also, don't forget to include the shipping label, with specified age group and gender. This can be obtained at: http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/OCC/ through EZ Give Donation. You will then be prompted to print the required label. We look forward to seeing everyone at the new location this Saturday!

October is Over!
The tea party was fun and the girls were able to learn more about the life of Girl Scout founder, Juliette Gordon Low. The hats were absolutely gorgeous and so creative! Thank you so much for participating. I was worried about the life of a paper hat. Fortunately, there were no paper hat fatalities between meetings. :)
Along with the busy events this past month, we have been steadily moving through our Journey Books. If your child does not yet have one, please go ahead and get that done. It will save us on xerox copies and she will be able to look back through the activities and stories on her own time. We are closing in on our first Journey Award, Being Responsible for What I Say & Do. We will be sending a project home with the girls next meeting... one that I think you will personally enjoy.
Another fun announcement, our girls will be pen pals with another Daisy Troop located in California. For safety and personal privacy, only the leaders addresses will be exchanged. I think this will be a fun learning experience for the girls and we are looking forward to the friendships made.
October was busy and fast paced and we have survived :). Things should be calmer from here on out. Thank you for hanging in there with us during our first month as a troop.
